http://www.popularchitecture.com/supertower/; This literally looks like a monumentally bad idea - Don't get me wrong I like the fact that they are looking at alternative models of development - and I also like the fact that it would mirror the society which created it by having it reflect our democratic structure. However it conjures up memories of the 70's streets in the sky - and we are still trying to erase that blight from our cities skylines - not to mention a bad 70's disaster movie (no doubt why they put the fire station in! There are more practical concerns too like the stress it would put on surrounding city - surely the alterations necessary to the surrounding area in terms of transport alone would be huge, to say that people would not need to leave the superstructure is frankly unrealistic.
